Who we are

MyCrate supplies secure parcel-delivery boxes in South Africa. For the purposes of the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA), MyCrate is the responsible party for the personal information described below. You can reach us, including on anything in this policy, at admin@mycrate.co.za.

What we collect, and why

We only collect what you type into our forms. We do not buy personal information, and we do not collect it from anywhere else.

First name and surname

To address you personally in the quote and any follow-up.

Email address

To send you the quote.

Phone number, and WhatsApp number if given

To contact you about the quote, by the method you chose.

Street address, estate or complex, city and province

To price delivery and advise on placement.

Residence type and expected delivery frequency

To recommend the right configuration.

Preferred contact method

So we reach you the way you asked to be reached.

Anything you type in the free-text field

Only what you choose to tell us.

The newsletter form collects a first name and an email address. The contact form collects your name, email address, an optional subject and your message.

No cookies, no tracking

This website sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and embeds no third-party scripts or trackers. Every page except the quote form is plain HTML with no JavaScript at all. Nothing here follows you around the internet, and there is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to.

Our host keeps ordinary server logs, which may include your IP address, for security and troubleshooting.

Why we may lawfully use it

We rely on your consent, which you give by ticking the box on the quote form or by choosing to send us a message, and on the fact that we need these details to prepare the quote or answer the question you asked us for. You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing us; that will not affect anything already lawfully done.

Who else sees it

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing. It is handled by the services we use to run this site and our email:

• Netlify — hosts this website and receives and stores what you submit through its forms.
• GoDaddy — provides our mycrate.co.za email, so anything you email us is handled there.

Beyond that, we share personal information only where it is necessary to do what you asked — for example with a courier to deliver your unit — or where the law requires it.

Both of these services operate servers outside South Africa, so your personal information is transferred and stored abroad. We rely on the protections those providers commit to in their own terms, as contemplated by section 72 of POPIA.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries only as long as we need them to deal with your request and to meet our record-keeping obligations, and then delete them. If you would like your details removed sooner, email us and we will do it.

Keeping it safe

The site is served over HTTPS. We take reasonable steps to protect personal information against loss, unauthorised access and misuse. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.

Your rights

Under POPIA you can:

• Ask what personal information we hold about you, and get a copy of it.
• Ask us to correct anything that is wrong or incomplete.
• Ask us to delete it, where we have no legal reason to keep it.
• Object to us using it, and withdraw your consent at any time.
• Complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa if you believe we have mishandled it.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
